The Textile and Laundry Association (TSA)’s Pasha the Pillowcase illustrates the lifecycle of linen and explains the environmental impact behind its creation. It highlights the importance of care practices that extend the lifespan of linens and promotes textile recycling for those that are no longer usable. TSA’S Infinite Textile Recycling Scheme reuses the material from old textiles to make new yarn. If even a fraction of the 61% of industry linens lost annually are repurposed, the number of textiles sent to landfills will drastically decrease (MacDonald 2024).
- At The Green Group, we proudly recycle textiles as part of our sustainability efforts.
- Pasha the Pillowcase is a great illustration of the role which we, as a laundry, play in the linen lifecycle and offers some really interesting visuals and data for the larger environmental impact behind this.
