For hospitality businesses, linen management goes beyond laundry and linen hire.
How textiles are maintained, reused, and recycled can significantly impact both operating cost and sustainability.
At The Green Group, we provide commercial laundry and linen hire services across Scotland and Northern England. Through a circular economy approach, we manage thousands of textile items each week, extending linen lifecycles, reducing waste, and supporting more sustainable operations.
From collection and processing to reuse and recycling, every stage of the textile lifecycle is carefully managed as part of our commitment to responsible linen management.

Managing Hospitality Linen Responsibly
All textiles are professionally laundered and quality-checked.
While the majority are returned to service, some items that no longer meet hospitality standards are taken out of circulation.
Rather than sending these items directly to waste, we follow a controlled process to extend their use where possible and reduce environmental impact.
Reuse Through Local Community Support
Where items remain in good condition, they are separated and donated for reuse.
We have supported our local Dogs Trust Rehoming Centre in Glasgow, helping ensure these materials continue to serve a practical purpose rather than being discarded.
This reduces waste at an early stage in the process and extends the life of usable items.

Commercial Textile Recycling Process
Textiles that cannot be reused are carefully sorted on site and prepared for recycling.
Items are separated into categories before being loaded into our baling system. Materials are layered and evenly distributed to ensure consistency, then compressed under high pressure into secure, solid bales. Each bale is tied, wrapped, and stacked onto pallets, ready for collection.
This structured process ensures materials are handled efficiently, stored safely, and prepared for onward processing by our recycling partner, Davis & Moore.
You can watch how we process and bale hospitality textiles in our video below.
UK Textile Recycling Partner: Davis & Moore Ltd
Once baled, textiles are collected by Davis & Moore Ltd, a UK manufacturer of industrial wiping cloths and cleaning rags.
End-of-life textiles are sorted and recycled into industrial wiping products used across manufacturing and engineering sectors, giving materials a valuable second life and diverting them from waste.
This approach also provides a lower-impact alternative to new non-woven products, reducing energy use and carbon emissions.

Supporting a Circular Supply Chain for Hospitality
For hospitality businesses, responsible sourcing and waste management are increasingly important factors in procurement decisions.
By working with The Green Group, customers benefit from a commercial laundry and linen hire partner that actively manages textile reuse and recycling through a transparent and UK-based supply chain.
This approach supports:
